Dr. Patel built the chronic care program at Riverbend after several years in hospital medicine, where he watched the same patients return with problems that better follow-up would have caught.

He runs the monthly diabetes education group at Riverpoint and works closely with the care coordinators who phone patients whose readings are drifting. Patients describe him as direct but patient with questions, which is how he would describe himself.

He is a Spokane transplant by way of Chicago and has given up pretending he does not miss the food.
