Riverbend started with two physicians in a rented suite at Riverpoint. Three clinics later, the thing we have protected hardest is the bit that is easy to lose: you see the same person, and they know you.

Why the practice works this way
Most of what makes primary care good is unglamorous. It is whether the person in the room has read your chart, whether somebody follows up on the referral, and whether you can be seen on the day something goes wrong. None of that photographs well, and all of it depends on how the clinic is run.
Riverbend stayed independent so those decisions stay here. Appointment lengths are set by the clinicians using them. Panels are capped at a size where continuity is realistic. The lab sits in the building because waiting a week for a result changes what you can do about it.
It is not a complicated model. It is just harder to hold onto than it sounds, which is most of the reason we have kept the practice small enough to run properly.

One provider, kept
Panels are capped so your provider has read your chart before they walk in. Continuity is the whole product, not a nice extra.
Seen when it matters
Same-day slots are held every weekday morning at all three clinics. We would rather run a light morning than turn away a sick patient.
Plainly explained
Every result gets a note in ordinary language, including the normal ones. Nobody should be decoding a lab report alone at midnight.
Independent, on purpose
The practice is owned by the doctors who work in it. Appointment lengths are set by clinicians rather than by a spreadsheet elsewhere.

Riverbend opened at Riverpoint with two physicians, one medical assistant and a waiting room with four chairs.
- 2013
The lab moves in
An on-site lab replaced the trip across town. Same-day results changed how quickly we could act on anything.
- 2016
South Hill opens
A second clinic took the pediatric and older adult panels, with a separate well-child waiting area from the start.
- 2019
Spokane Valley
The third clinic opened on Sprague for patients who were driving into town for routine appointments.

Telehealth stays
What started as a necessity became a permanent part of the schedule, staffed by your own provider rather than a pool.
