Primary care for adults

Annual physicals, same-day sick visits, medication reviews, referrals and the ordinary questions that are easier to ask someone you already know.

What this covers

Primary care is the part of medicine that works best when it is boring. You see the same provider, they remember that your father had early heart disease, and small changes get caught while they are still small. At Riverbend, adults are assigned to one physician or nurse practitioner and stay with them, so a visit starts from what we already know rather than from a blank chart.

A typical adult panel at Riverbend covers annual physicals, acute illness, medication management, referrals to specialists at Sacred Heart or Deaconess, coordination after a hospital stay, and the paperwork that ordinary life requires: DOT physicals, FMLA forms, disability documentation and pre-operative clearance.

Standard adult appointments are 20 minutes and annual physicals are 40 minutes. If a visit needs more time, we would rather book the longer slot than send you away with half an answer.

What is included

Everything below is part of this service at all Riverbend clinics that offer it.

  • Annual physical

A full head-to-toe exam, vitals, lab review, screening schedule, vaccination check and a written plan for the year.

  • Same-day sick visits

Sore throats, urinary symptoms, rashes, sprains, sinus infections and stomach bugs, usually seen the day you call.

  • Medication management

Refills, interaction checks, deprescribing where it makes sense, and coordination with your pharmacy.

  • Referrals and coordination

Referrals to Spokane specialists with your records attached, plus follow-up so results do not get lost.

  • Forms and clearances

DOT physicals, employment and school forms, FMLA paperwork and pre-surgical clearance.

  • Hospital follow-up

A visit within a week of discharge to reconcile medications and catch complications early.

How a visit runs

  1. Call or request online

Tell us what is going on. The front desk books the right length of visit rather than a default slot.

  2. Check in

Arrive 10 minutes early the first time. A medical assistant takes vitals and reviews your medication list with you.

  3. Your visit

You and your provider agree on what matters most today, and what can wait for a follow-up.

  4. Plan and follow-up

You leave with a written plan in the portal. Labs, referrals and next appointments are booked before you go.

Primary care questions

Yes. Every adult patient is assigned a primary provider and we protect that relationship when booking. If your provider is out and you need care that day, a colleague who can see your full chart will see you.

We hold same-day slots at all three clinics every weekday and Saturday morning. Calling before 10 am gives the best chance of a same-day time.

Yes, most of our providers are open to new patients. The booking form asks who you would prefer and the front desk will tell you the first available new patient appointment.

Photo ID, your insurance card, a list of medications and supplements with doses, and the name of your previous clinic so we can request records.

We treat most urgent but non-emergency problems. Chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, trouble breathing and other emergencies should go to 911 or the nearest emergency department.

Book primary care

Request a time online and the front desk confirms by text the same business day, or call and talk it through with a person.

Most major Washington plans accepted. Sample self-pay rates published for every visit type.
